Dr. Ogechi Ukegbu
Founder
Dr. Ogechi Ukegbu is a native of Houston, TX, born to immigrant parents migrating from Abia State,
Nigeria. She graduated from the University of Houston, with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
minoring in Chemistry. She later pursued her Post baccalaureate degree from CCNY in Manhattan, NY,
where she taught Math and Science to inner city middle and high school students at The Children’s
Harlem Zone. While teaching in NY, she learned of her father’s vision battles in Houston where he
lost one of his eyes due to the negligence of his eye surgeon at the time. This sparked her
curiosity to train and become an eye doctor. Although her father’s situation was an unfortunate
one, it created a legacy she must fulfill to ensure his situation does not happen to others. She
continued onward to receive her Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry,
where she received extensive training in specialty services including glaucoma, neurology,
pediatrics, ocular disease, and emergency care. She also trained through the VA hospitals in Palo
Alto, Monterey, and San Jose, CA. After the birth of her son, she relocated back to Houston to be
closer to family.
Dr. Ukegbu is happy that you have chosen her practice for your eye care needs. She prides on the
personalized care she gives to each and every one of her patients. She is fortunate to have an
excellent team by her side who shares her vision and standard of quality care. Come visit us
today. We look forward to meeting you!
